Garden Poet

Mab is the first ever Resident Poet in the National Botanic Garden of Wales. She writes about flowers and trees, and is inspired by nature's profound, perfect beauty, as well as some of its more unusual, unique creations. Read one of these poems HERE. Performer / MC

In the past 7 years, Mab has performed at nearly 700 events, headlined for Apples & Snakes, gigged at Latitude, toured in the USA and Japan, and much more. She performs many types of poem, for all ages and audiences. She is also an experienced and engaging host. Please get in touch if you'd like to make an enquiry or a booking.


Mab's career began on the comedy circuit. She was Resident Poet at a comedy club which later became the Cardiff Comedy Festival, was a semi-finalist in the Funny Women Awards, has performed at the famous Comedy Store, and she also supported telly's Phill Jupitus (Porky the Poet) at Edinburgh Fringe last year. Mab runs creative writing workshops suitable for all ages and abilities, in schools, arts centres, at festivals, for various charities, and so on. She has worked with the homeless and with people with mental health challenges. She is trained in counselling with an MA in English Literature, but more than this, her teaching style is fun, friendly, and engaging.

Confession Box

This is an audience-led endeavour in which participants are encouraged to submit secrets into The Box, anonymously or not. These are then publicly shared, and/or made into a poem. Great communal fun!


Mab writes a monthly column on live literature events for Buzz magazine. She's also been a columnist for Write Out Loud, writes regular reviews, and has contributed to the Guardian online amongst many others.

Magic Poems
